Faq

Wifi is widely supported, it's the easiest way to start if you don't know which one to choose.

On the other hand, bluetooth is more secured and offers better performance, mouse pointer should be more reactive. Your smartphone/tablet must handle bluetooth. On your computer, if you haven't got bluetooth by default you can buy a bluetooth USB adapter.
Be sure that your computer and your device are on the same network.

On Windows, check your firewall configuration.
  1. Open the control panel.
  2. Click 'Windows Firewall'.
  3. On the left pane, click on 'Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall'.
  4. Then on 'Change settings'
  5. Search for 'Telepad' and check the network locations you want, usually "Home/Work(Private)" will be sufficient.
  1. On your desktop, check your wifi connection and get the name of the network.
  2. Start the desktop application.
  3. Check the status in the footer of the window.
    If the status is 'disconnected', click on 'Start' Button.
    If its displays 'server started - searching for device...', the desktop connection is done.
  4. Check in the 'Settings' of your device that you're on the same wifi network.
  5. Open the Telepad, select the 'Settings' menu then 'Wifi Discovery'.
  6. The name of your computer should appear, select it and wait until the notice 'device connected' appeared.
  7. If your computer isn't visible, press the button 'Add an Ip adress' and enter the ip address displayed in the desktop application.
  8. Select the ip address in list.
If you can see your computer with your device, but pairing failed, please check that the bluetooth driver on your computer is correctly installed.

If you're not able to see your computer on your smartphone or tablet, check that your computer authorises bluetooth discovery.
On Windows, right-click on bluetooth icon at the bottom-right corner of your screen.
Select 'open settings', in the 'options' tab, check the box 'Allow Bluetooth devices to find this computer'.
You can uncheck the box once the pairing is done.
  1. Ensure bluetooth is activated on your desktop and on your device.
  2. Start the desktop application.
  3. Check the status in the footer of the window.
    If the status is 'disconnected', click on 'Start Button'.
    If the status is 'server started - searching for device...', the desktop connection is done.
  4. Open the Telepad, select the 'Settings' menu,then 'Bluetooth Discovery'.
  5. Your computer should appear in the list, select it and wait until the notice 'device connected' appeared.
  1. On your desktop, be sure that the keyboard you choose in the application parameters corresponds to your computer keyboard.
  2. On your device, check your keyboard is the same as your computer.

  1. Click on the Search icon at the top of the Unity bar
  2. Type 'startup app'
  3. Click on 'Startup Applications'
  4. Add a new entry
  5. Set 'Telepad' as name
  6. Set '/etc/init.d/telepad-d start' into the 'command' input
  7. Save and you're done !
